Holy Trinity National School, Sandyford is a new Roman Catholic school set up under the patronage of the Archbishop of Dublin.
The School aims at promoting the full and harmonious development of all aspects of the person: intellectual, physical, cultural, moral and spiritual, including a living relationship with God and with other people.
This philosophy will underpin all curricular, pastoral and administrative elements of school life.
The Enrolment Policy of Holy Trinity National School has been formulated in accordance with the provisions of the Education Act 1998 in order to assist Parents in relation to enrolment matters. The Chairperson of the Board of Management or the Principal will be happy to clarify any matters arising from the policy.
Application Procedure
Application forms are available in the school office. Parents seeking to enroll children should return a completed application form. Parents of children registered for Junior Infants will be invited to a meeting in the school in November of each year previous to the year of commencement. However, the completion of an application form or the placement of your child’s name on a list, however early, does not grant an automatic right to a place in the school.
Parents wishing to enroll their child in Holy Trinity National School are requested to return a completed Enrolment Application Form (available after the meeting for prospective parent s held in November of the year previous to the child starting Junior Infants) with an original Birth Certificate, a certificate of Baptism and the child’s PPS No. A deposit of €80.00 is also required towards the cost of books and materials required for Junior Infants. Under the rules of the Department of Education & Science Junior Infants are enrolled in September provided the child has reached his/her 4th birthday on or before the 1st day of the school year.
There will be an Open Day held in May of each year. During this time you will meet his/her teacher and the rest of the staff and the children will have the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the classroom. Samples of our school uniform will be available to see on the day.
In the event of the number of children seeking enrolment in any given class exceeding the number of places available (due to the Board of Management being unable to provide suitable accommodation, or recruit the required teaching staff) the following criteria will be used to prioritise children for enrolment:
- Catholic children of the parish
- Brothers and sisters of children in the school.
- Catholic children who live outside the parish and do not have a Catholic school in their parish.
- All children who live within the parish boundaries but are not Catholic applying for a placement are entitled to a place if there are vacancies after the groups from 1 to 3 have been allocated places.
- All children who apply to the school and are not Catholics and not residents within the parish boundaries are entitled to a place in the school if there are vacancies in the school after the groups from 1 to 3 have been allocated places.
Other pupils may be enrolled during the school year if newly resident in the area. Pupils wishing to transfer from other schools are enrolled subject to the school’s enrolment policy and Rules for National Schools, Education Welfare Act.
